For a starter, the type of partners I don't touch with a 10-ft pole above all are those who habitually complain. Like a good soldier, my ideal partner dances without complaining and at the same time is brave enough to engage in formidable steps like Fleckerls till we conquer them. The satisfaction for the achievement strengthens the partnership. I happen to believe that dance partnership is one of the best ways of testing marriage partnership; barring a few exceptions, if it does not work in the former, it's not going to work in the latter.

For starters my dance partner needs to be as motivated as I am. I'm trying to become the best dancer I possibly can. This hobby is way too expensive to settle for mediocrity. Does anybody feel me? I'd like someone who is as outgoing as I am. One thing I don't do well with is a dry personality or people with no sense of humor. I'm very outspoken so I would always wonder if I make these type of people uncomfortable. That drives me bonkers!

I guess it's all dependent on delivery. Communication is vital...without partners expressing how they feel and what they wish, it'll be hard to improve. In theory, if we voice our thoughts tactfully, it would not upset our partners. But it's the hardest thing to do in the world Frowner

I'd like someone who doesn't talk. Someone who'd bring me coffee just the way I like it, massage my sore feet after practice, do my laundry, dance as much as I want when I want and where I want (You said ideal.)

Nope!

What is your ideal one?
The one I have, and I really mean that. It took me about 7 years to find him, too.

If you have one, what you want from your dance partner?
You mean beyond what I've got? Well, it would be nice if he were a little more in to travelling, but I understand his reasons for wanting to stay 'local' now when it comes to competition.

Are you happy and satisfy for your current dance partner?
Completely!

Do you want to change your dance partner if you have the chance? Why?
Well, there's that thing about travelling that I mentioned, but it's not a deal breaker or anything.

Do you want your Ex back if you have the chance? Why?
Nope. This is the best all-around partner for me that I've had in 7 years -- and that includes counting the two pros I did pro/am with. By "all-around" I mean taking in to acount height, body type, age, location, practice availability, level of committment, attitude, expectations, and approach as well as dance skills.

Is the dance partner relationship more or less like the marriage?
I see it as more of a business relationship -- but it's the kind of relationship where you're starting a business with a friend and so you've both got a lot of time, energy, money, committment, thought, passion, etc invested in it.

Do you want marry your dance partner?
No.

Do you want your wife or husband be your dance partner?
No.

The neighbor's lawn always more green than yours?
Nope, not looking elsewhere. I waited a year for this guy to go get knee surgery so we could dance together, and it's been worth it for me.
