Ceroc / Leroc in the USA
We have been dancing Leroc for about 4 years in the UK at Planet Le Roc
In the UK there must be well over 100 clubs specialising in this type of dance.
Recently, whilst on a cruise, we gave some lessons to friends from California, Illinois and Arizona. They loved the style of dancing, but there seem to be no suitable classes available in their areas of the USA.
Does anyone know differently?

Hi Chris,

Yes, sadly Modern Jive is not well known in the US. However, there is one dance school in New York that has recently started giving classes and holding parties and I hope that Modern Jive's popularity will soon grow here too! We have a forum at http://www.modernjivemania.com/forum and info about the dance studio can be found at http://www.empiredance.com

Perfect
Hi there
I have been living in Georgia for 2 years now and miss Ceroc. I use to dance at Fullham and Kensington evry week and loved it. I think people would love it here to. When I have taken freinds here back to London and taken them to Ceroc they have really enjoyed themselves and always want to go back. I was hoping that something would catch on in Atlanta but sadly it dosen't seem to be doing so at the moment.

I used to dance at Fulham regularly too Smiler

We moved to New Zealand, and while Ceroc was already here, in our town it was abismal... soooo... we quit complaining and took over. We now run it here and it is booming! Ever considered running your own group in Atlanta?

It is so fun... I'm sure it would catch on. Just copy what you did in the UK. It's working for us! Best wishes, DS

jivemecrazy

we have weekly instruction videos for download at beginner and intermediate level. They are high quality and cost $1.62 US each. There is a free video for sample also.

Hope you find them helpful. We have other very happy customers in your same situation.
Happy dancing.

Do you still do anything with Modern Jive? Modern Jive Mania doesn't exist. Modern Jive US doesn't exist. Cerocwiki doesn't exist. I really miss Modern Jive. It is easy to learn, and it provides a way to do partner dancing to rock music. For several years there were Modern Jive dances and classes in New York, but they ended several years ago. The most recent locations were St. Jean Baptiste Church then Empire Dance Studios (which has closed). There was even a Yahoo group. Attendance was very big about 10 years ago but declined, especially after it moved to Empire. If there were someone to teach and run it, I think we could get people to come. One problem may be the cost of renting space. I don't know of any dance school that teaches it.

If you are interested in dance schools, check Dance Manhattan (free Guest Night once a month) and You Should Be Dancing. It is possible to dance Modern Jive at Dance Manhattan's Guest Night. Maybe those of us who are interested can meet there.
