PreBronze Registered:: 03-27-2011 Posts: 2 | I visited one place in Tokyo called the Hayakawa Dance School (早川午朗ダンススクール). http://gorodance.com One of the teachers was very friendly and offered me classes however, once the studio owner found out (Mrs Yoshie Hayakawa 早川良枝), she threatened to dismiss the dance teacher from her job and informed me that they will not teach foreigners at her school. I have never experienced such racial discrimination in my life, it was a terrible experience that for a while shattered my confidence. This really hurt my dreams of learning ballroom dance in Japan, though I will continue to search for somewhere that will accept me. SJames |
