LaurenRe: need a song
Thanks, everyone, for helping me with a song! Great suggestions. I'm sure it all depends on what I can find at the music store. psbd, I'll be sure to pass your sentiments along. Happy 4th!

LaurenA soldier returning from Iraq will be a guest at our dance this weekend. We would like to have a song/dance to honor him and all the military. Any suggestions for patriotic or other fitting music?
One springs to mind from an 1980's t.v. show but I can't remember the name of it. It's something to the effect of "I'm looking for a hero but he's got to be strong and he's got to be..... and he's got to be larger than life" Sorry that's all I can remember - can anyone help out with the title?????
Please honor him on behalf of all of us, as he and his comrades are all our HERO'S!!!

LauraAre you thinking of "Holding out for a Hero"? I think it was by Laura Brannigan.

quickquickslowI just thought of Les Miserables - "Bring him home" I think is the name. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

LauraYes QQS, I'm quite sure it was in Footloose too. Man, that was a long time ago!

quickquickslowAnd didn't John Lithkgow (sp?) played the super conservative father of Daryl Hannah in that flick?

LauraAccording to IMDb (Internet Movie Database), Lori Singer played John Lithgow's daugher (Kevin Bacon's girlfriend).
"Holding Out For A Hero" was actually Bonnie Tyler.
