Upper body flourishes. Related video?
My wife and I are working on a Tango themed roller skate free-dance program. We were inspired to try that after seeing the movie "Tango".

Our challenge is developing the body postures, attitudes, moods, timing and flourishes to give the program a Tango look and feel. Obviously the footwork will be different because we are skating rather than in shoes.

What videos would you recommend we study for that particular goal?

We do not have a Tango background, but are very much interested in taking Argentine Tango classes in the future if we can locate one.

Hi David,

To get Tango ideas, you might want to check out these performance-based video tapes:

World Superstar Videos: The ones that would include Tango are the "WS STANDARD" ones. The complete video pack is at: http://www.shopdancescape.com/product.php?productid=169...at=0&page=1&featured

If you are just interested in performance-based TANGO ones, there is a gift pack at http://www.shopdancescape.com/product.php?productid=18213&cat=400&page=1 ... or just click on any of the individual Videos to get the ones you may want.

You can also get the more recent ones (2005) in DVD format at:

These are all high quality videos with top competitive Ballroom Dancers. The nice ones that incorporate Argentinian Tango elements include William Pino & Alessandra Buchiarelli, and Massimo Giorgianni & Alessia Manfredini.

Here is also another response we received from Roger, an Argentinian Tango dancer from Australia:

Hi,
Christopher Dean choreographed a Tango ice-skate routine for the Duchesneys - French/Canadian brother/sister ice-skaters - in the Olympics (or possibly the Worlds?) in approximately 1988 (possibly a little
later -- The date may also be awry - possibly it was 1991 Worlds). At that time I wasn't a tango addict - and so viewed it with uninformed eyes - but I felt at the time it was the best routine skated that year.

Certainly worth a look - and presumably available on VCR or DVD somewhere.

I hope this helps

cheers
roger

Finally, if you want to just learn some basic Argentinian Tango, check out www.shopdancescape.com ... the specific videos are at http://www.shopdancescape.com/home.php?cat=293

Hope that helps!

Hi again,
Just wanted to enquire ... would you have Videos of yourselves Roller Skating?

If so, could you email to info@dancescape.TV as we would LOVE to feature you in the SKATING Channel at www.dancescape.TV

We already have some contributions from other members, but it would be FUN to showcase your dance segments!

BTW, if you check the Argentinian Tango or Ballroom Dancing channels, there might be some videos that may inspire you.
