Flamenco in Spain

Hi,

I would like to very much watch Flamenco in the country of its origin. Can someone tell me what are the major festivals there and where they are held? Or those that I should definitely go to?

I went to spain and saw some Flamenco dancing but not at a festival, wrong time of year. My suggestion would be to look in the Lonely Planet guide to Spain or Madrid at a book store and see what they have in there under festivals or flamenco. That brand of guide book is one of the best I have found and I am sure they have something in there about it.

The "Festival de Jerez" is definitely the one to go to. I believe it is around March. Do a search on the web, and I am sure you will find a lot of information about it.

Another thing that I would suggest, is to go to Madrid, and watch the amazing performances at the Casa Patas. I think that is the right name.

If you don't want to go to far, Albequerque, New Mexico, normally has a 2 week workshop, I think it is in July every year.

So, best of luck
