Sign up now to be among the fortunate few to compete in the premiere Blackpool Pro-Am Challenge.
Sponsored by the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Dance Teachers, the Blackpool Pro-Am Dance Challenge is a unique opportunity for Pro-Am couples to compete in Blackpool's world-famous Empress Ballroom.
The Blackpool Pro-Am Challenge will be held following the Blackpool Dance Festival (the Open British Dancesport Championships).
Entries for this event will be exclusively handled world-wide by SuperShag Productions.
When and Where
The Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2005, in the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool, England.
Qualifying heats will be in the afternoon, followed by the finals during the United Kingdom Alliance Dinner Dance Saturday evening.
Styles and Divisions
The Challenge consists entirely of open competitions in International Standard, International Latin, American Smooth, and American Rhythm styles.
The following age divisions will be available. Competitors may "dance down" a division.
"¢ International Standard: A for 18+ and B for 40+.
"¢ International Latin: A for 18+ and B for 40+.
"¢ American Smooth: A for 18+.
"¢ American Rhythm: A for 18+.
Adjudication and Rules
The Challenge will be judged by a panel of World Class Adjudicators.
The usual rules for syllabus and attire for open competitions will apply.
Entries Limited
The number of entries is limited: Each International competition category is limited to 24 couples and each American competition category is limited to 12 couples.
Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. When each competition category has been filled, entries will close for that category.
To the extent space remains available, the last date for submitting entries is March 1, 2005.
Fees
Separate fees are required for competing in each competition category and entrance to Empress Ballroom for the event.
"¢ The registration fee is $100 per couple for each competition category. Checks for registration should be made payable to SuperShag Productions
"¢ The required fee for entrance to the Empress Ballroom on Saturday, June 4, is £ 55 (pounds sterling) per person. Checks for entrance to the Empress Ballroom are payable to the United Kingdom Alliance.
The £55 fee for the Empress Ballroom includes entrance to the ballroom all day on Saturday, June 4, a five-course dinner, and reserved seating for the evening event. It is required for each person attending the event, student or teacher.
Registration Process
To register for the Challenge, please follow these steps for each person registering:
1. Go to
www.supershag.com/blackpool and fill out the online registration form.
2. SuperShag will reply by email to advise you which entries have been accepted, pending receipt of your total fees, and the amount of the fees required.
3. After receipt of this advisory email, you must mail your entry fees to hold your spot. Two checks will be required to complete the registration.
a. A check for the registration, in the amount of the number of competitions accepted per registrant x $100, made payable to SuperShag Productions.
b. A check for the Empress Ballroom, in the amount of £ 55 per person, made payable to the United Kingdom Alliance.
 Note: UKA requires these funds in British pounds sterling. Please go to your bank or other financial institution that provides currency exchange and have them write a bank draft or money in British pounds sterling for you.
4. Please mail both checks along with a copy of SuperShag's advisory email to:

5. On receipt of the checks, SuperShag will email you back your confirmation of entry(s).
Spectators Welcome
For those who wish to attend the Challenge to cheer on their friends, please go to
www.supershag.com/blackpool and click on Spectators to get tickets for the Empress Ballroom only. Follow the above instructions under "Registration" for sending the fee in pounds sterling for entering the Empress Ballroom.
Spectators are also eligible to join the package trip. Please see below for those details.
