I'm new to this forum and wanted to say hello. Some of my favorite big bands are wide and eclectic and range from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to Glenn Miller to the sounds of the Count Basie Orchestra. Speaking of the Count Basie Orchestra and for those who enjoy this sound, I just found out that there's an artist out of the San Francisco Bay Area named Jamie Davis who has just recorded a CD of cover songs with members from CBO. The CD is called, "It's a Good Thing" and after hearing some clips on Jamie's Myspace site (www.myspace.com/jamiedavismusic), all I can say is WOW! Jamie covers classic songs from Stevie Wonder, Cole Porter and also Rogers and Hart, plus others in a big band jazz tone style - all which are some of my favorite songs of all time. The CD doesn't come out til June 13 but you can get a feel of the CD and new music by going to Jamie's website, www.unity-music.net. I just prepurchased the CD and for those interested, you can buy it at: http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=4178186&title=It's+A+Good+Thing&artist=Jamie+Davis. Thanks for letting me share my new find of the day. Who are some of your favorite or latest new artists you enjoy listening to? I'm always looking for new swing and big band music so I hope someone out there might have some recommendations! Thanks!

Hiya yellowstarshine! Thanks for the recommendation ... will definitely check him out! We usually listen to the more pop artists like Michael Buble and previously Harry Connick Jr. There is another artist, Matt Dusk ... NOT really impressed with his voice tone but he has a Frank Sinatra type of quality (but in our opinion second-rate). Love old standards sung by Ella Fitzgerald as well as Rosemarie Clooney (George's aunt LOL) and Nat King Cole.
