US Youth Latin Team Wins World Championship



WILMINGTON, DE, October 12, 2004 – The International DanceSport Federation’s (IDSF) World Youth Latin DanceSport Championship recently concluded in Spain with the crowning of a new US World Championship couple.

Yes, congratulations go to Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Sandra Udis for dancing their way to a triumphant first place finish in a battle against 63 of the top competitive couples from the IDSF member countries.

USABDA also wishes to congratulate Igor Drobyazko and Anna Tovbin of the USA for their remarkable fourth place finish.



This win marks Valentin’s second World Championship title as he won the Junior II World Latin Championships with his previous partner in 2001.

USA DanceSport is the competitive division of USABDA which is recognized by the IDSF and the US Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body of amateur DanceSport in the United States. USA DanceSport organizes the National DanceSport Championships where National Champions are selected in all levels and age groups of both American and International dance styles.
