I have the gown (red and sparkly with floatsies), and we're working on our waltz routine. Every time we get one thing right, something else falls apart, but that's just life. Now, we're trying to find a good waltz song. I like the new Shall We Dance walz of Moon River, but worry that it might be a bit cliche. Anybody know any good short ones? Also, should I go with silver court shoes or regular flesh-toned ones? I keep thinking that if I get flesh-toned, I might someday use them for a newbie comp, even if I can't use the dress in Newcomer. There's also the Harry Potter GoF soundtrack "Neville's Waltz". I can't think of anything else. Eep.

Ok, I guess I'll be the lone babbling idiot for awhile. I'm up late with excess caffeine to burn off, and am antsy. Dress is to be delivered soon, the shoes (closed toe flesh satin with "don't fly off and kill people" straps) later on. Now, I guess the partner needs a simple nice white shirt and either a bowtie or a necktie- which?

Our routine starts (it's one of Mancini's waltzes, but I don't know which- THANKS KAZAA LITE, eh?) with a balance, into one open twinkle, then we close, and do boxes until we're lined up for a whisk-chasse, OR we could do a pivot-to whisk-chasse, then boxes, then solo turn, then boxes around to the other side, then a reverse alemana, I'm trying to get him to throw in the six-count walk-around (can you tell my terminology is sadly lacking? I'm sorryFrowner ) , and then we're at a bit of a loss WHAT to do. I'd love to have one nice "knockout" element, but we're newbs. Not into Silver yet. Oh- we're doing open and closed twinkles, and we'd do a fallaway if we could figure out how to close it up. Any ideas? I think we'll do great if we can just get through this one. It's only two minutes, so that's cool.

We chickened out of Knoxville, but might not chicken out of Indianapolis- aren't sure yet.

Geez, I wish this benadryl would work- I NEED to sleep, but my mind won't!

Since you're dancing Smooth, I prefer the men in the white shirt with black necktie and a black vest. The bowtie looks too "waiter"-like for my tastes. The vest is kind of "waiter," but it nicely smooths out the shirt and gives the man a long clean body line.

It sounds like you are having fun with the dancing. Mancini has some great music, doesn't he? I totally understand the desire for a knockout moment...are you doing syllabus? It doesn't sound like it because I didn't think fallaway was in the Bronze Smooth syllabus. Anyway, good luck with it, I'm sure you will come up with something fun and beautiful.

My husband and I did the fallaway with a fishtail and you can follow it up with a lock step that takes you back into your into your twinkles! We did this part by incorportrating it into our foxtrot routine and everyone loved it! You can also do this part of your routine in a waltz. We learned the fallaway into a fishtail while taking International. When we first did our demo to complete our Bronze Level 1 syllabus our routine was put together with International and American style. Our instructor was very pleased with the end result. We are now working on completeing our Bronze Level 2 reqirements to be able to move onto Silver.
