Say Laura, a quick question for you: If USABDA doesn't want to have anything to do with the pro/am business, does NDCA have any mention of pro/am students and their rights and responsibilities in their book of rules?

Laura

I got thrown off by this comment

"Look, I know it's confusing,"
Is there anything that is not confusing in life? Michael Houston says that in Tango the man keeps his left wrist straight while his partner breaks her connecting right wrist backward. In DSI Media's "Tango-Passion and Power" (performed by Pino and Bucciarelli), however, Geoffrey Hearn states that the man breaks left wrist while the lady keeps her connecting right wrist straight. As a man, I have to break my left wrist when Hearn or Pino is in the judge panel, and keep it straight when Houston is in the panel. To this kid, everything in life is confusing.

It seem to come straight out of nowhere.

I'm scanning the latest online NDCA Rule Book now and it seems to be the same old same old: there are basically no rules and no enumerated rights that pretain to Pro/Am Student competitors at NDCA-sanctioned events.

I don't know if this Houseman's statement will make you even happier but he also says that don't do Double Reverse Spin, Over Spin Turn, and Flackerell unless you can execute them perfectly 99 times out of 100 times.

That's what I thought. I guess we'll have to stick to pinching to prove we exist. Could be worse I suppose.

First of all, QQS IS BACK!!!

Hope you had a good break from Dancescape!

Second, the "Wing" has got to be one of the ugliest figures I've seen. I always hated it because it felt very out of place for some reason. There are hundreds of better variations to do. I'm glad my coach doesn't push the "Wing" on me.

Third, I propose we change our comments directed at Dancekid. I've been thinking (a dangerous and painful past-time, I know) of one of the many reasons why everyone gives DK such a hard time. I can see "why", but I would like to know more about DK so that we can make his experience here a better one (and hopefully, more educational). For example, if the English language is something he wishes to learn to a point where people can understand him and take him seriously, I'm sure most of us here would really like to help. I mean, the only way I learned most of my English was by writing letters to my father, who would then send them back to me with a zillion notes, markings, and corrections on it. While it was a little traumatic at first, I think I learned a LOT. I don't think I would've learned ANYTHING if he just sat back and wrote snarling comments ridiculing my use of the language and I wrote snarling comments back to him telling his what he can do with his red pen! So I was wondering, if DK is up for it, maybe we can help him. To do that, the first thing we'd need to know is a little background: how old is DK, where he is from, where he lives, etc. I think these facts would help us better tailor our responses. DK, I'm being dead serious. Instead of getting sniped and anhilated, you can be assisted. It's critical in day to day life to learn to organize your thoughts and code them using proper language. Hopefully the listener will comprehend it in the spirit you intend it. Let me know if you would like us to put our sniper rifles down and help you instead. I'm not saying all of us here are perfect. In fact, I learn things everyday on proper usage, language, etc. You seem to be a prolific regular here on these boards, and you seem to get into a lot of trouble due to your lack of proper English usage. Instead of us reacting to it, we might be able to help you for future reference.

I just think all this beating down on DK can go on forever without any positive results. However, I also realize that for this to work, DK has to be very open minded and open to correction. Being an amateur dancer, that shouldn't be much of a problem. Besides, I think I will also learn a thing or two since most of the people on this board are pretty smart and know quite a bit about a lot of things and are very willing to share their knowledge.

MacArthur said: "Master yourself before trying to master others." You are the one who needs help in English writing. Please learn brevity. Your English writing is as bad as Hitler's endless and aimless tirades in German. If you don't get it read Joe's posts: they are short, succinct and clear. Go back to your school. I'm from VA. My forebearers came from potato famine-stricken Ireland. They fought alongside with Dr. Hugh Mercer in Revolutionary War and Gen Garnnet in Gettysburg.

Whoa! Ouch! Easy there DK! I guess this really is a lost cause.

I guess it's finally safe to say that Hitler was to world peace as Dancekid is to the English language!

There's nothing more dangerous than someone who THINKS he's an intellectual.
