I hear ProAm attendance was quite weak and this comp is no longer the "must" it used to be. Is it still worth going if one lives out of the area?

I don't know what qualifies as a "must" for pro-am, but it appears from the program that the A and B International Pro-am Championships had semifinals - actually there was a semifinal in the C Standard as well. About 25% of the competitors are from Massachusetts, 50% from the greater NY area, and the rest from further away. American style is mostly full finals in the program.
The pro-am syllabus events occupy more pages than ever before, but of course few if any have semifinals.

I think the only "must" for Pro/Am is Ohio, although Hotlanta is getting itself there. Emerald is another big one -- quarter-finals in some of the scholarships. Even at USDSC there were only semis in some of the same events.

Don't know about the pro-ams, but I see that there were only 9 couples in the Amateur Standard World event, and it appears that at least two of them were brought over by the organizers. This is an event that used to always have a quarter, and maybe even four rounds once. Seems like Yankee has sort of fallen off the radar screen for some amateur couples, if not for pro-ams.

The World Open Amateur Latin had a large quarterfinal.
The World Open Amateur Standard had 18 couples in the program, but most of the the overseas competitors did not dance, apparently due to pressure from USABDA. The Latin apparently didn't suffer the same fate because it had far fewer overseas couples.
