It's interesting to see how easy it is to go off the original topic during a discussion ...

Since this is a thread about USDSC, let's talk a bit more about USDSC.

Currently, top three comps in the world are all in England: The international, UK open, and Blackpool. What's the chance you think that USDSC will catch up with those comps ?
Comparing USDSC with other major comps outside UK, how do you think USDSC measure up with comps like German Open, Italian Open or Russian Open ? anyone care to share his/her experience here ?
World Championships is kind of an exception since it's not open.

There's no reason for USDSC to catch up to any of the big UK comps. With the low-fare European airlines pretty much anyone in Europe can hop a flight to the UK inexpensively, as opposed to flying to Fla. Since Europe is where all the top couples are, it costs them more to fly to the US than the UK. Especially since most of them are living and training in London anyway.

Well this may be true now ... however it's quite possible that US could have No. 1 couple in few years in both Prof standard and Latin. Another trend, more top coaches from Europe are travelling to US and Asia for coaching and judging, more top couples are moving to US. If the trend continues, things could get very interesting ...

US Open may not be able to catch up with the top 3 comps in UK in the next 5 years, but it will have its chance in the next 10 or 20 years ...
